ON-SITE TRAINING
At The Shed Melbourne, we understand the growing challenges faced by schools in delivering quality woodwork education. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a noticeable decline in the number of skilled educators leading school-based woodworking programs. Many teachers find themselves lacking the necessary training to use woodworking machinery and tools safely and effectively, which can impact both the quality of instruction and student engagement.
To address this, we are now offering on-site training for schools—designed to equip educators with the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to run a safe and effective woodworking program.
Our expert trainers will come to your school and work directly with your staff in their own environment. This hands-on, tailored approach ensures that teachers gain practical experience with the specific machines and tools they use daily.
Training covers essential areas such as:
Best practices for woodworking education
Safe operation of machinery and power tools
Workshop safety protocols and risk management
Techniques for engaging students in hands-on learning
Maintenance programmes and troubleshooting of equipment
Industry contacts and brand alignment
Specific project guidance (already have the curriculum just need guidance on tools & safety)
Cost Breakdown:
At The Shed Melbourne we only employ industry professionals as our tutors and educators. Our tutors come with over a combined 10 years of educating and guidance at The Shed Melbourne alone as well as tutoring at such institutions like RMIT, Victorian Woodworkers Association, The Melbourne Guild Of Fine Woodworking. We offer rates that reflect such skills and knowledge.

Why use on-site training?
By providing this training on-site, we remove the barriers of travel and unfamiliarity, allowing educators to develop their skills in a space they know and feel comfortable in. Our goal is to empower teachers with the knowledge and confidence to deliver high-quality woodworking education, ensuring that students receive the best possible learning experience.
